Poop Never Looked So Good

Have you ever heard of Ellie Pooh Paper?  Now, I know what you’re thinking, Pooh paper?  Is that what I think you are saying?  Yes it is, paper made from pooh or pooPaper made from elephant poopp!  Whoa!  Well, let me explain. Ellie Pooh Paper is paper made from recycled elephant dung. Don’t worry, the poop is boiled, filtered and cleaned plenty of times before it becomes paper.  Did you know that elephants essentially just eat grass?  And, though most people check first, the actual paper does not smell like poop.

There are many different items and I really like three styles of Ellie Pooh Paper:
• Paper Cube- sticky note pad without the sticky
• Heart Box-a heart box that contains heart shaped pieces of paper
• Square Box-a heart box, but in the shape of a square

The elephant paper comes in a lot of different great and bright colors and each one has an elephant design on the cover.  After being filtered many times and the cleaning of this paper, it forms a unique texture which also adds to its character. I think that Ellie Pooh Paper makes a great gift to a teacher and I can tell you I have experience with that.  Ellie Pooh makes a great gift for anyone.  Who wouldn’t love some poop?

WGreen Product reviews from the Tween perspectivehile researching this fascinating product, I read the story behind it. In Sri Lanka, an estimated tenth of the 40,000 Asian elephants live there, but sadly are killed because of interference with farming. This conflict has no easy solution, so some people came up with a plan. They think that if they show that elephants have more economic value alive then dead, then people will stop killing elephants. Only time will tell.  I hope they are right and they sell a lot of Ellie Pooh items.

So just like many other people, when I first heard of Ellie Pooh Paper, I was disgusted yet interested. I think the concept of using a natural “resource” to make paper in an eco-friendly way is great.  And Ellie Pooh is made from not just any material.  What a great product.  Good for both the environment and make a very unique gift. Hopefully it is just the start of creating everyday products that are healthy for our Earth, and will hopefully revolutionize our way of living.
